Hard work is expected. Direction is what most people lack.
I spent 7 years in the Navy flying in the MH-60S as an Aviation Rescue Swimmer and Crew Chief. I deployed four times across the 7th Fleet and was stationed in Guam and San Diego.
Fitness was never optional. It was tied directly to performance, and at times, someone else’s life depended on it.
I consistently achieved perfect scores on the SAR Fitness Test and trained to a standard that went beyond numbers. Strength, endurance, and composure all had to show up when it mattered.
After getting out in 2018, I had to find a new outlet for that level of purpose. I became a licensed 100-ton Merchant Marine Captain and a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, while continuing to train and coach.
Around that time, I joined Skeleton Crew Sailing and took part in a voyage across the Pacific Ocean, down through South America, and around Cape Horn, often considered the Mount Everest of sailing.
That journey became the documentary "Hell or High Seas." It was built around using challenge and environment to work through the transition many veterans face after service.
From there, I spent years working on the water. I captained and instructed sailing across the Great Lakes and Pacific, taught through the American Sailing Association, and ran 100-ton captain licensing courses across the country, often teaching 12 to 14 students at a time in intensive 9-day programs.
At the same time, I completed my BASc from Western Michigan University with a focus on health science, history, and military science.
Through it all, training stayed constant.
Over the last two years, I have been living full-time on the road, traveling across the country and working with clients in different environments while continuing to build my coaching. That experience has given me a wider perspective on how people train, what they struggle with, and what actually works in the real world.
The long-term goal is to build a space of my own. Until then, the focus stays the same. Keep improving, keep coaching, and keep building something that lasts.
What started as a side focus became a profession. I have coached across multiple environments, from large gyms to private training, working with clients in weightlifting, powerlifting, swimming, triathlon, mountain biking, and bodybuilding, including prep and competition.
Now everything is centered on coaching.
My focus is on building strength as a foundation, then developing movement, performance, and durability so it actually carries over. Whether that is in competition, daily life, or something more demanding, the goal remains the same.
Train with purpose. Build something that actually carries over.
So, who is my Coaching for?
This is for you if:
You want your training to carry over beyond the gym
You are willing to train with intent and stay consistent
You expect more from your body than just strength
This is not for you if:
You are looking for random workouts without structure
You are not ready to commit to a process
You care more about convenience than progression

John has been giving me training and nutrition plans for a few years now! With my busy schedule running my business, not only are the plans personalized, he holds me accountable as well. John and I are both veterans and understand the importance of accountability, especially when it comes to our health! John is my go to for EVERYTHING health related!
I’ve been working with John for several months, and the results have been outstanding. He is incredibly knowledgeable and knows how to tailor programming to deliver real, measurable progress. In each phase of training, I’ve seen noticeable increases in strength, along with improved overall health and fitness. I’ve lost 15 pounds, gained muscle, and feel better than I have in years.
What really sets John apart is his ability to make the process both effective and enjoyable. I hadn’t lifted weights in a long time, and getting started again felt intimidating. John made that transition smooth, kept me motivated, and consistently pushed me in the right way to stay on track and keep improving.
If you’re thinking about working with a trainer, I highly recommend John. Taking that first step can be tough, but he makes it worth it. I’m incredibly grateful for his guidance and can’t thank him enough for the impact he’s had on my fitness journey.
Highly recommend John.
Getting back into working out after a few years away from the gym and having kids felt overwhelming, and I was honestly intimidated to even start. John took the time to listen to my goals, limitations, the equipment I had access to, and even the mental roadblocks that could’ve easily made me quit.
He built me a detailed but realistic plan that kept me engaged, challenged, and consistent without feeling defeated. It never felt like some generic workout plan.
Not only did I see results physically, but I gained back a lot of confidence in myself through the process.
If you’re nervous about getting started again, John is your guy.
